@matchmaker

hey everyone! Cam here!

I wanted to write a quick (long) note about the future of the comic. working on matchmaker this past year has been one of the greatest delights of my life. it started as a little joke for my friends, and I never could have imagined so many people would care this much about it, it really means the world to me! Because so many people like this silly comic, it's bittersweet to say that Vol. 6 will be the last volume of matchmaker.

somewhere during writing volume 3 the story started to feel like m0re than just a collection of jokes. at that point I decided that we were probably at the half way point of the story, and now that i'm sure, I can tell you we're nearing it's end! it's possible i'll work with these characters again (in fact, I really want to!), but this volume will serve as an ending for this story and format. keeping things exciting and fresh feeling is what made this comic fun to work on, which made it fun to read! that's why I want to wrap up this story long before I feel bored with it.

I'm sorry if this makes anyone sad, but I think with any luck, this next volume will be it's best! I hope you look forward to reading it! Thank you everyone, for all the love and support you've shown me. I'll get to work making this next volume special!

See you soon ๐Ÿ’œ

reading through an unapologetically queer slice of life comic has been a blessing through the pandemic that i didn't even realize i needed. thank u so much for everything!! excited for the last volume and anything else that has ur name on it :)

I will be sad to see Matchmaker go but I am a big proponent of ending things on your own terms rather than going until you just run out of steam. Best of luck with the ending and I am excited both to read it and to see what you work on next!

im glad you're doin what you need to, and im doubly glad you're not going to continue matchmaker beyond its welcome. im triply glad that its unlikely to be the last time we see these characters too!! basically ideal way to finish it off imo ๐Ÿ‘ thanks for making it, and looking forward to vol 6 and whatever follows!!

Since I discovered you on Mastodon, Matchmaker has been a site I visit regularly. I got really hooked instantly since I started reading it. And I'm looking forward to the next chapters and whatever comes next! Greetings from Chile! :D

as a big fan of your comic but also somebody who used to be knee deep in the webcomics scene myself, i'm honestly glad to hear you're taking such a good and healthy approach to it! the Webcomics Burnout is sooo real and i cant think of anybody who doesnt end up stressed by long-form formats like that sooner or later..
it's been soooo fun to read Matchmaker tho, and i've been enjoying the cozy/bittersweet slice-of-life vibes that radiate from it, so i'm looking forward to seeing how you'll wrap it up!!

it's honestly been so nice to read something so funny & wholesome that someone seems to be having fun with/not killing themselves working on (I hope not anyway!). it's rare these days. Thank you for sharing it with us :)
