Hitman 1 accident kills feel like exaggerated but plausible methods of assassination, like "oh no, that guy somehow died! I guess I, an unrelated bystander at a moderately long distance away, will leave now"

Hitman 2's 47 is like bugs bunny walking up and saying "gee doc I hope no one does a murder that'd be AWFUL" and then pushing the "explode a man" button in plain sight and walking away while everyone else looks around going "who could have done that????? ? ??"

the change in tone is PALPABLE

I think the tone they're going for is "casually doing the thing in plain sight and disappearing while everyone is confused" given how people do start to suspect you if you stick around but, while the timing worked fine for a ceiling fixture drop or a ledge push it starts to feel a bit questionable when I was standing at the console with the only controls capable of doing the thing in the same room as the target while multiple people watched and it takes then 15 or so seconds to go "Hey maybe it was the button pushing guy"
