I signed up for a bluesky account so I could see a post. My instinct to avoid that site was correct. It is disturbing. Somehow it manages to be worse than twitter, because it's designed from the ground up to be what twitter became.
Self-promoting celebrities and wannabe celebrities needed a place to cut and paste their accounts into when Elon Musk decided to destroy twitter, and bluesky was there for them. But that self-promotion only works in an ecosystem where there's other interesting stuff around it.
It's like a factory farm, artificially designed to maximize a certain kind of growth that's good for one industry. Unnatural, and unsettling for its unnatural nature.
