I saw that my Japanese maple bonsai was leafing out, so I decided to repot it! Look at how fucking full of roots it was!!!! That's incredible, since I just got it out of a nursery pot and into bonsai soil last year. That kind of vigor and growth is exactly what you want to see when you're repotting.
I took the time to remove a bunch of the roots at the very underside of the tree growing straight down. I also cleaned up a bunch of crossing and poorly angled roots. And I combed out the roots to remove the old soil and to get the roots radially positioned.
It was a lot of work but I'm very proud of how it turned out. I'm super excited to see how much this tree grows this year.
