If you want to make your account a private account, you can do so by going to your profile page, clicking on the gear, and then marking the account as a private page.
While you're on the page you can also make changes to filtering and tags and other items that are useful.
Also!!!! Just in case you didn't know, you don't need multiple accounts! You can create new pages that basically act as separate accounts when outsiders view them. You can make a SFW page and an AD page and manage both from a single account. And you can flip between the two by clicking on your profile pic on the top right on mobile view or the drop-down on desktop view! That's why privacy and 18+ settings are managed in the profile settings page. The general settings page is for the account and affects all pages.
No one can see that you operate the different pages associated with your account, btw!
Also, in case you're used to having a private Twitter where you get new followers occasionally, that's less likely to happen for Cohost. In Twitter, when someone publicly replies to a private account, you can still see their reply. That's how a lot of people find locked accounts (in my personal experience).
Make sure you give out your private page info to friends so they know to follow you! Or consider trying out a public account and see how you like it. You can always have a private page to fall back on!
One other neat thing I'd like to point out is that you can disable likes and shares from your notifications!
So if you only want to see when people are talking with you (you know, the point of social media!?!???) you can enable that.
