My local bonsai club had their summer expo this weekend. As part of it, there was a new talent competition among new members of the club. It was only open to people new to bonsai. And in bonsai terms that means people with less than ten years experience haha!
We were each given an unstyled shimpaku juniper shrub and four hours to just... Do whatever! And hopefully make a nice looking tree.
My tree ended up winning second place!! I styled it as a windswept-style tree. So it's supposed to look like all the foliage is whipped to one direction because of strong consistent winds. This mimics what happens in nature, especially on mountains and coastal areas.
