I generally prefer being the DM!
This is going to sound terrible but I have a difficult time being a player. I want to have a lot of agency as a player to make decisions but at the same time I HATE not knowing something. I can't stand mysteries that might last multiple months. If there is an idea put out there in the fantasy universe, I want to know what the deal is ASAP. And I HAAAATE doing stuff unoptimally. If we miss an important roll or something doesn't go our way it grates on me.
I'd like to think that I'm good to have on a team as a player because I'm extremely good at picking up "this is what the DM wants us to do".
It's also really difficult for me to get out of the backseat driver mentality of "this is how I would run this" or "I wouldn't have handled this situation this way".
I should probably play more as a player just because it's always good to see the other side of the screen. BG3 scratched a LOOOOT of that itch.
