This is the fourth time I've done it! Honestly???
I really enjoy it. It lets you keep a lot of momentum. Normally we play 2-hour blocks every week, which is great, but you eat up time with people needing recaps or reminders of stuff from prior weeks. If you play longer sessions, it's all fresh and the ball rolls faster.
It's exhausting, but it's worth it!
Also, I think that it helps to run adventures/sections of adventures where it's relatively linear or very fleshed out. Dungeon crawling especially is great for events like this because everything is laid out for the DM. That minimizes the mental energy required to run the game. Having to run a roleplay or intrigue-heavy game would be miserable.
