i think in order to make good art you need to regularly consume something that's weird and bad so you can get mad enough at its one good plot point and try to do it better. it's important for the ecosystem of art as a whole that there's stuff that just sucks ass in completely novel ways. this is why doctor who is a good show, and why voyager got seven seasons

Well, in a way, any of them and probably others i dont khow about it, could have be dedicated to make something better then "centrist cop wizard" and actually did research on stuff before that which i am ignorant about it.
