seems Juggernaut's power-up glitch might have been removed from the MvC Collection version of MvC2. I really hope there was some kind of player error involved or something. the idea of "fixing" MvC2 is unconscionable.

puts hand to earpiece I am now being told that whoever was playing Juggernaut tagged too late for the glitch to work.

this weekend is the 10th Tokai Cup in Nagoya for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. it starts locally on July 16 at 10:30 a.m. Japan time (that's tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. Pacific time) and will be streamed at VF Tokai's youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@vf1832/streams

45 teams, 225 players total.

team entry list! (in Japanese. links to each page of the list are across the top: "チームリスト1 チームリスト2" etc.)

Here's the stream archive of Tokai VF's latest ranking battle to tide you over.

For subscribers: new post about the SF6 meta a month into the game's development. I've done quite a few SF6 posts already, so in-depth stuff like this is gonna be under the paywall.

On other subjects, finally, I have kind of an anime season rundown in the works that might wind up being very long (multiple posts?) because I watched a hell of a lot of TV anime last season. By contrast, this season is very skippable.

this is a cool piece that sort of reinforces for me why I don't like SF6 that much. maybe it's just that I've been spending a lot of time with CvS2 lately, but I really feel like very few of the characters in SF6 are all that fun to use when I'm not spending meter. the drive gauge governs the use of so many good options that it only makes sense for resources to be plentiful, but the game feels kinda sluggish to me in those moments when resources aren't readily available. if past is prologue, SF6 will probably be a very different game by next year, so we'll see how it pans out. for now, I'm not a fan of this peaks-and-valleys approach.
