decided to condense this a bunch and release it from my drafts. I've tried dissecting solos like this before, but never in public. it's always been something I did as a way of helping myself understand why I love the things I love.

I promise to do my best to keep musical jargon out of this, partly because a lot of people aren't versed in it, partly because I don't quite understand some of it myself and partly because my brain tends to envision what someone is actually doing to create certain sounds rather than how they might appear on paper.

I have a really long post in my drafts that goes into detail about every part of this song's solo but it's shelved for the time being.

for now I just wanna remind people that Tony MacAlpine rules and this song has such a beautiful refrain and the solo has gorgeous whammy bar work and contour while also being a showcase of technical prowess and the way it dissolves into the outro is just unbelievable and Maximum Security is one of the first albums I recommend to people who want more music that sounds like their favorite video game OSTs and and and and and
