Purpose-built for wrong

thousands are sailing
the same self the only self

self willed the peril of a thousand fates

a line of infinite ends finite finishing
the one remains oblique and pure

arching to the single point of
consciousness

find yourself
starting back

Yesterday I noticed there was this game called Trailmakers having a free-to-play weekend, and I decided to try it. You build vehicles out of fake Legos, and believable physics models are applied to them. You can make cars, submarines, planes, or whatever else. There's of course a sandbox mode where you just have everything and can build whatever, but there's also a "campaign", where you crash land onto an alien planet and have to find parts of your space barge in order to escape it, but when you find a part, you don't just automatically unlock it, you have to figure out a way to drag it to a pickup point. So the structure of the game is a lot like an open-world sorta deal with vehicle-based physics puzzles everywhere. I thought it would be something I play once during the free period and go "haha that's fun, well time to do something else."

It is literally all I did yesterday. Building and rapidly prototyping vehicles has no risks, so you can sit there and just keep trying to make vehicles until they work, and once they do there's a moment of "oh my god I did it" that's just fun. It's really like just playing with toys.

I was so enthralled by this game I only took one real screenshot of one of my vehicles. Pictured is "Fuckmarine", my submersible. It's the latest in a long line of vehicles such as "Fucktruck", "Fuckboat", and "Fuckboat for Two".
