Just played through the demo level for Fortune's Run on Steam, one of the games that was shown in the PC games show or whatever it's called. It was really really good.
Cool aesthetics, cool music. lots of side paths and things to find, and astonishingly good level design that was expansive and open but still did a great job of funneling you where you needed to go... for the most part anyway. It says something that I didn't necessarily know what my objectives would look like but I found myself at them anyway.
Throughout my 4 hours of playing the demo I kept finding myself saying "this game is so fucking cool" reflexively.
It kiiiiinda scratches a similar itch that Cruelty Squad did (mechanically) but less nuts. Basically it's an "imsim" but you get more movement options baked in, like wall jumps and vaulting and stuff. It's really good. It's hard as nails though, so if you're finding yourself at a wall, lower the difficulty or quicksave generously.
