been playing halo: ce from the master chief edition and something i have to say is that i wish this game had fewer and ideally zero cases where you round a corner and are hit by a rocket from a flood enemy immediately
i dont think the rocket launcher flood are bad or anything i just think that if the game is going to press the "redo from last checkpoint" button i feel like it shouldnt be able to do that with enemies i havent had the chance to even see yet
(just happened again for the third? fourth? time in the same segment)
the same kind of thing goes for when you get those covenant elites with swords and they just Launch at you, but at least it's more readable than just an explosion out of nowhere
(okay one more bit here)
it appears that there's also something wonky about the checkpoint logic. the game is pretty generous with checkpoints, that's not the problem - the problem is that while usually there's a checkpoint at the beginning and end of major encounters, and even in the middle of longer ones, sometimes it seems like the beginning-of-encounter checkpoint doesn't happen at all?
so i'll end up having to traverse several hallways or grab that banshee and fly down and take a tunnel and open a door on three separate attempts before it decides to finally give me a checkpoint at opening the door, which starts the next combat encounter
