okay one more post about how i'm losing my mind over this whole unity thing despite it not directly affecting me in any way
even if the deal was always going to be that they charge the per install fees by querying platforms for install coutns (so for android it's only your first install from the play store since after that it's licensed to you, etc) and then bill the distributors (in this example google) the fee...
a) why would google, apple, steam, etc. pay unity for game downloads? are they even party to this contract? can't they just say "no"?
b) what about itch, where you just get a zip file and to the best of my knowledge there is absolutely no way of tracking installs? do those not count at all, or are you required to calculate installs manually somehow to not be in breach of contract?
c) why did they only come up with this point after being asked about it adn giving a completely different answer ("every install and reinstall counts and no we're not telling you how we determine those") the first time?
