the kobolds were mostly built off of sprite sheets cause that was the laziest way to do it, but it's such a pain to add new parts to them since id have to manually adjust a bunch of variables to account for the new part. it's also a bit unwieldy if i wanted to add new patterns to existing parts, since that'd bloat the singular part list and i wouldn't be able to organize it without breaking people's already saved kobolds every time i added new parts
so i spent tonight making a part manager system, that'll automatically read the folders of each part, figure out how many base shapes it has, and how many patterns it has in each shape. it will break old saved kobolds, but since the current upload has a pretty tame amount of parts, it'll be easy to make something that'll update old version kobolds to this new system! i can also plug it into the create a kobold ui so it'll update everything it needs to instead of me having to do that manually too
but the one problem, though... is now i have to do the tedious work of separating all the sprite sheets into individual files...
stayed up way too late to get the new parts system fully implemented, now the ui looks like this
i had to do some finagling to get everything all fit together, and a lot of very tedious programming lol
but now i can go hard on my big list of new part/pattern ideas!!
i drew up a bunch of new eyes yesterday that im very excited to get in... i just need to do their expressions
