@softtummybitch

there's been a steam store-front event like very other week this year so far. for what purpose? is this a rebranding of previously untitled sale events or are they just trying to exhaust people

@softtummybitch

Steam Remote Play Together Fest hot off the heels of, uh.. the Pirates Vs Ninjas Fest, and the.. Capitalism And Economy Fest. sure is, isn't it

idk how steam operates really but that sure does ring a bell... i know RS3 has been doing non-stop "special" mtx promotions for years now, and while i only have experience from one i would assume it's also a common tactic employed by gacha games. drawing extra attention to the Super Special Limited Time Premium Sale (who knows when it/something similar be back; certainly not next week).

in gacha games at least it creates a sense of fomo, but idk how well that translates into here, so i'm guessing the point is mostly just to make the sales more visible and easier to notice in the first place. either way i'm sorta surprised this sort of thing hasn't become more commonplace.

that's the thing, though - valve already take a third cut on everything but some huge AAA games, they're sitting on a mountain of cash. between that and their overall company culture i find it hard to believe so many sales events is for economic reasons. someone out there must just earnestly believe it's a good idea?
