there were at least three months in the past few years where i could only make rent because people here helped me.
I was tossed out on the street in a foreign country, at the end of winter, with the equivalent of $50 and a half-charged phone. I was sleeping when it happened, I had my pajamas on. I lost almost all of my possessions.
Cohost people gave me enough money that I could stay fed, get some changes of clothes, travel somewhere safe to sleep, and then travel back to the UK. I rationed what was left for a couple of months before I found a job.
When I was in temporary housing and my food kept getting stolen out of the communal areas, cohost people bought me a fridge. I put it in my bedroom next to the desk.
When I got my own apartment and couldn't make ends meet for the first month, cohost people gave me enough money to bridge the gap.
When I accidentally left my backpack full of groceries for like 2 minutes and it got stolen, i vented about it, and cohost people were like "that sucks, here, buy some more".
I owe my survival and my slowly improving situation to people here. It's a level of support I have never received before in my life. I doubt I will receive it again.
When I hit my lowest points financially you all were here, getting me through a few months where I never would have made it otherwise. Genuinely cannot imagine what I would have done without you all. You all were so kind you even saved two people very dear to me when I asked for help, even though they weren’t on this site.

i wasn't in danger if losing my home, or transportation. just had a big bill, that would've made me go without the things that keep me in my zone. cohost gave willingly, and i cruised on through, grateful and unbothered. i can't name any other place where i would feel comfortable asking that, or where i would get that kind of support.
the people here are really somethin' else.
