I'm even envious when the US gets bad games, because I want those bad games ๐Ÿ˜”

It's 2001, Jet Set Radio just reinvented Tony Hawk skating. Yanya Caballista tried to re-reinvent that. Developed by Cave; the bullet hell people? Published by Koei, the mosou people??

The controls that clip a physical tech deck to the analog sticks are terrible. The gameplay is super floaty. But the art is super cute and it just looks fun?

I mean, this is a pretty awesome gimmick

I hit the fucking wrong button again let's fucking goooooooooo

I never knew about the controller add-on thing! That is an amazing gimmick. Games like this remind me of Cool Cool Toon and Rock'n Tread, which I really wanted to love, but... just couldn't at the time. Amazing art and music can only go so far unless you're really in the mood!

I had to look up what Rock'n Tread is. That's the kinda stuff out of my view. What's off about it? But people don't like Cool Cool Toon?๐Ÿ˜ญ I guess I'm very willing to put up with garbage if it's just cute or interesting in any way.

I liked playing Metropolismania 2; a title in the top worst reviewed games of all time. I'm also not saying these games are good though haha

There was something 'off' about most of those bemani-clones from that era, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it was. Usually it was the input timing feeling weak, or patterns not matching the music, or the audio feeling tinny and low-budget, or the UI being confusing because Konami patented the 'lines on a vertical scroll.' Other companies kept trying to mix it up somehow, often in a way that was hard to read...

There was that Puyo Puyo dance game too, which had an absolutely amazing callback to a MSX era character, but still! Something about it just felt weak compared to Konami games!

One thing about me: if your game has a cool aesthetic, I will play it ๐Ÿ˜Œ

The Disney skate game weirdly shreds. It's so much better than it needs to be :')

Skate Park City is fine. I've been trying to track down a copy. I just didn't want to pay full price for an Essentials game, especially one like that.

It looks a lot nicer scaled up like that. It's above average for what a PSP game of that genre usually is for sure, but that's because it focused more on the actual gameplay than the style. Which is, ya know.. That's what you should be doing.
