Part of the reason I think video game OSTs are so cool is because I periodically imagine trying to convey to someone what makes a song so good and every time I try, I just can't. How can I possibly convey what makes the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet boss theme brilliant without explaining two decades worth of Pokemon final boss fights, a game worth of leitmotif, and the oppressive atmosphere of a final boss fight against a team of strange creatures that you have almost certainly never seen before? How the fuck could I do that?? but boy does that shit dropkick me in the ribs when i hear it, it's a fucking masterpiece

I feel the same way. I love putting on a soundtrack and being thrown back into the experience, the mindset of my playthrough. The recent one that comes to mind is my intense melancholy when hearing Bartow from Signs of the Sojourner, and the feeling of drifting away from my childhood friends.
