At my last job there were some changes in upper management earlier in the year and they rode us HARD for no apparent reason other than that they seemed to get off on it. Then they canned the lot of us.

If you're getting tons of due-immediately work dumped on you without context? Super urgent urgently ultra urgent needs to be done NOW? It's time to take your sick leave.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this man. If I may ask, Are you all going to be okay? This is a hard situation so I guess what I'm attempting to ask is like, Have you been contacted by other reps in the industry? Will y'all re enter employment soon?

Thankfully a lot of things are happening. A lot of game studios are coming to Champaign to host job fairs, lots of people are being contacted by recruiters, etc. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I think things are going to be okay? The "benefit" of a game studio shutting down is that it grabs a lot of attention, and there is always a need for more staff at other places, especially senior roles. So recruiters are happy to try to snap up as many people as possible because they already have a proven track record of working in the industry.

(A lot of people will probably think "oh but working on a games that reviewed bad makes you less desirable as a potential hire", but that's not really true. Even working on a poorly received game still shows that you're able to work through the process of game dev. The vast majority of people working on a game that ends up being bad didn't do anything wrong. Bad games come about from a huge combination of different factors.)
