AL: Artificial Life is a combination of a CG art book with generative CG life forms, a novel, and a CD-ROM game. Feels like the kind of incredibly expansive project you couldn't do these days - who'd let you spend money to cram all that in one box? It's fascinating as a look into how the same basic ideas end up working completely differently in different mediums; the needs and affordances of each of the three parts ends up meaning that the work is totally different even though they had the same starting point. This was a really interesting dive.
