imo, a good author must be empathetic and emotionally complex / mature, in order to write compelling characters. simply embracing gayness requires a certain amount of empathy from the author that sadly not everyone has reached at this point, so when a book is gay, it's more likely to have a competent author than a book which isn't gay
HM! you're so right. time to establish myself as a good gamedev by making gay games (i've been wanting to make explicitly queer games for so longgg one day i will) anyway, do you have any favorite gay books or recs 👀

SO TRUE!! i once was reading a book which is literally a work of art ('the night circus' by erin morgenstern) and i was like man. this book is so good. and then there was a queer character literally just in the book as a side character it's so good
