start every post you make with "there's been a lot of toxic discourse about this, but" so that everyone will assume that there has been a horrific shouting match about it online for days or even weeks. for a second they will try to imagine what the arguments are about, what takes people have been having, how it could spread and worsen, a horrific alternate dimension of their own making filled with friendships being destroyed by the subject of this seemingly anodyne post of yours. maybe they will try to seek the argument out. maybe they will start one of their own
