As someone who just can't let go of the idea of playing music on a dedicated device instead of figuring out how a phone wants me to play it through some selection of apps, I've held onto a number of old MP3 players until I either found a better one or it broke on me in some way.

Getting Rockbox onto my latest player recently just so it would read microSD cards bigger than 2 GB was a thing, long story short I ended up using my Windows gaming PC to install it because the Linux installer was acting up. It did also expand album art compatibility, among other things like somehow being able to attempt to run classic FPS games on there, but there's still some images I'd like to fix since they don't show up or cause some lag for a weirdly long time. Essentially optimizing album art.
