pretty cool software but it takes a while to get used to
writing this post using talon in fact :3
(Except maybe the Fusion file manager from Irix)
[taking incredibly deep breath and exhaling] this is what every linux screenshot in a "post your desktop" thread looked like for ten years, before everyone in charge of development decided they were going to throw anything that didn't look "respectable" out the window in a desperate and pyrrhic attempt to compete with macos for some unknown reason, and i will remain mad forever at how hard you have to work to get back to this point. if you turned on any linux machine in like 2002 it was gonna take you about ten minutes to figure out how to close a window, and they used to include wallpapers and color schemes this embarrassing. they'd be on like disc 3
its awakened something in me
https://stranger.video is up!
To recap, the way the game works is:
Depending on who you are, you might interpret this as "an online staring contest" or as "weird art about the fleeting nature of human connection." Or as something else! Your interpretation is (probably) valid.
I had a ton of fun building it and I'll be playing it off and on for most of the day. I'm going to submit it to GDC's Experimental Games Workshop although I have no idea if it's a good fit. And I'm really really excited to build some other stuff in this space - I think there's so much more that you can do.
I wrote a little more about the game and why i made it on my blog. Also if you've got a physical space that you want to install this in lmk, I'd love that :o
