I don't actively consume gaming news like I used to, but if I need to I've been using this site.
They aggregate news from a bunch of places and link directly to them. I seems pretty comprehensive and the whole idea of the site is you can filter or "sift" the news down to very specific genres, if that's you're thing.
They do original reporting and content too, but a lot of that is behind a pay wall. Apparently they have an exclusive show deal with Michael Pachter lol.
They've been around for a long time at this point and I've never heard anyone mention them, so I'm kinda surprised they're still around. I used to use them a lot when I needed to scour the internet for news for various past gigs. Came in plenty handy back then.
I have found Polygon to be pretty good. If you click their drop down menu and select “All Gaming” you get a chronological list of news as opposed to stories sorted algorithmically by popularity. I find that kind of thing pleasant.
This is the website that banned me for "complaining about coverage" when I tried to give them feedback. There is literally a section in their community guidelines that you can't criticize their writing. Probably not a website you want to give your support to.
I mainly just skulk around twitter, but also it's twitter, so...
Siliconera is good for obscure/weeb stuff. Otherwise, I wanna know, too.
Well so far VGA has been doing the trick for me. Kind of bland but it gets the job done.
If you don't mind getting it via YouTube, Skill Up's weekly wrap-ups are really damn good.

Spawnwave does daily wrap-ups, but I personally find him super milquetoast.
Video Games Chronicle maybe? It's pretty bland matter-of-fact reporting, but every other website seems to have gone down the tubes or off the rails.
It is straightforward and to the point. Kind of what I was looking for. I wish it had a dark mode..
I use theoldreader with an rss feed from (among other non gaming ones) dtoid and eurogamer. I might need to find another feed given the direction both sites are going
