It's official, Grim Dawn is now my favorite ARPG, ever... And I have played quite a few of them.
After fooling around with mods I decided just to do a pure vanilla playthrough for funsies. My Purifier is a blast, think magical gunslinger.

I actually just decided to officially set it down last night, and I came away merely whelmed. It's got a great class system, as you alluded to, I just can't get over how tonally flat it is. The visual style, the objectives, story, enemy design, etc. Heaving through indoor buildings in Burrwitch was kind of neat, but it wasn't improving fast enough.
Diablo III is still king for me. Poppy visuals, excellent camp value (one of the few games, along with Deadly Premonition, to exude that for me), flexible skill system that can see me entirely rearranging builds because of a fancy new drop, etc.
I need more to try, to be fair.
To each their own, I also installed the Grim text mod which sharpens up the textures. Also running a few filters through Reshade, makes it pop a bit more.
It's amazing what they got out of the Titan Quest engine...
Just you wait till you start messing with the Devotion tree, Lord Almighty..
The Purifier and Dervish are great classes.
Hades is still my favorite ARPG as a whole, but for the looter based one Grim Dawn is tied with Torchlight 2 as best.
Hades is phenomenal for sure. I still have some unfinished business in that game and I should get back to it.
I think I'll build a Conjurer next, I'm a sucker for summoner classes..
