The Season of Feathers marks a period between summer's trailing end and the accepted start of autumn, when the birds begin to migrate; great flocks darken the skies of the Vault of Splintered Stars, and the people dress in elaborate costumes to mimic the avians, holding dances that can pull people from every village within a day's walk to take part, everyone needing to take their part in it properly lest it all collapse into chaos and, most often, laughter. No one gets to go home properly until the dance is done smoothly, and often entirely new families are forged in the process.
