they announced the competition with this video, with the grand prize being $10,000 and the winner's composition being included in the next generation of nokia phones. and, as an absolute sign of the times, this was the winner:
I think many folks know this now, but if you didn't know, the Nokia riff actually comes from a classical guitar piece: "Gran Vals" by Francisco Tárrega, written in 1902. It's really beautiful and worth listening to on its own:
