(spoiler free, i think)

this game is good. really digging how the different mechanics dovetail and incentivize you to actually use everything you've got; in the original i was alllways neglecting things like cast and god gauge. feels like there are just more choices that are interesting across the board (lack of which was one of my main complaints about Hades I) so really glad to see that!

biggest thing that's really holding me back is the movement system still just feels... so clunky to me. it's got so many stops and starts with the way dashing works, and i hate that you can't dash cancel your attacks. and i'm ALWAYS getting caught/stuck on the architecture of the levels, as they're sometimes hard to parse on a sight read. also, some of the omega moves seem impossible to aim??? do most people just play Hades with mouse and keyboard?? idk, i'm guessing some of this is something that'll improve slightly as i progress through the skills (already unlocked higher sprint speed, which has helped a little) but this stuff was a major gripe for me with the original and i can't help but feel that it's ME who's, like, playing it wrong, ya know?

everyone is super hot. every single character knocked it out of the park. i love the new portrait style where you can actually see more of the figure. voice lines in general are great though there remain a few performances that are noticeably bad (sorry, Nemesis... i am looking at you)

all in all having a very good time with it so far, we'll see how long i stick with it!

in reply to @sperra's post:

One of the things I've been thinking about Nem - Is her acting bad? Or is she just a bad bitch who killsteals and locks your path and snaps items up before you can buy them and therefor the player is primed to hate her?

Omega attack on the staff especially is super fiddly to aim with a gamepad for me yeah.

Somewhat agree on the clunkiness but I feel like the more restricted movement is intentional, with the cast basically replacing zagreus's faster/more frequent dashes as your main distance management tool, and promoting more zoning-based playstyles with all the ranged and aoe options? So I'm still not sure how much of it is the balance and feel still needing tweaking, and how much of it is me still being used to zag being able to zip zap zip zap in and out of enemy danger zones with impunity lmao, whereas melinoe is clearly meant to be using the cast to do a lot of the positioning work.

I do keep getting stuck on random bits of terrain when sprinting though yeah, especially in the first zone. Which is. Especially bad, when you are busy getting chased around a relatively small room by screamers. -_-
