wanderhome is v much representative of the kind of spirituality we have developed over the past few years. its rare that i can point to something and go "that. that is how i am, spiritually speaking".
when we say we are "pagan" we are very much not talking about goofy wicca-derrived stuff with its weird gender binaries and duotheistic god and goddess, and we are not quite talking about anything very historical from europe, tho we are REALLY inspired by pre-church paganism, the beliefs and practices and stories and myths
when we describe ourselves as pagan it's more like how religion is portrayed in wanderhome, its the kind of world we'd want to build someday, where little shrines to small and overlooked local gods dot the landscape, where people pay attention to the deep cycles of time and the subtle patterns of the land. its a kind of comfy animism. overarching gods known across many lands exist, but they are just a small piece of the world, and the little local gods are just as, or even more important. often they don't even have names, its just like, the embodiment of a particular Thing or Place or Time. its an affection and respect for the spirits of these places and times and things.. and we just love it. it's so good. it makes us feel warm inside and happyyy.
