seems like lots of very basic musical instruments you would think is super old currently commonly used in irish folk music goes back to no more than a couple hundred years ago and were introduced
- the irish flute, not originally from ireland but basically got 808'd by concert musicians throwing their simple system flutes out to get fancy are ones and poor people suddenly having access to flutes
- bodhran supposedly only goes back to the 1800's and was made in improvised imitation of the tambourine
and it just makes me wonder what they were using before, very long ago. like certainly they had drums and flutes? so what did drums and flutes of the further past look like?
