normal for autistic girls to have a increasingly incomprehensible idiolect composed of

  • neologisms they made up that only they and maybe a friend or two use
  • esoteric words existing in the dictionary and basically nowhere else
  • reappropriation of words to mean something totally different then what most people associate with them
  • erratic loan words
  • echolalia
  • injokes
  • household slang
  • gestures
  • personal names bestowed on "inanimate" objects
  • meme references
  • media references
  • mythological references
  • obscure mythological references
  • mythological references references literally only they will get because they made them up
  • aphasiac circumlocutions used so often they now come up even without word retrieval failure
  • kennings, riddles, and deliberately obfuscated/mysterious/cryptic terms

or maybe it's just me

I developed a habit as a child of making up phrases and words on the spot because I simply assumed that's what everyone else was doing whenever they said something I never heard before. The habit stuck and I still do it today.

yeah. holy shit. i have a hard time communicating w ppl bc a lot of my words have meanings layered by 15 different crazy person thoughts ive had in the past week all combining and then all of the sudden in referencing media that doesnt exist. i thought everybody did this

Salad-grabbers have always been and will always be called "salad-grabbers". There never was another word for them.

I don't know why so many people are trying to get the word "tongs" to stick. I mean... it is fun to say... but still weird that you'd need to make up a new slang when there's a perfectly cromulent word for it already.
