smaller is actually better, because most of our usage would be for pretty small sample sets from just going for walks in the park
current dehydrator is a large model made for kitchen use we are indefinitely borrowing from a friend, and it was pretty handy when we did a mushroom grow last year, but even then, it's just kind of overkill
honestly with our use case, we could maybe diy something and it would probably suit our purposes better, if we just used a really quiet fan or something. diy heating element could be sketchy though

It's big enough to where you can do a full batches of mushrooms or even beef jerky. But it's pretty compact and quiet and you just put it on a countertop.
