My bandcamp friday purchases:

  • torr - molecule: a really really really really fun album, a little bit hyperpop. if you like underscores, you will probably really enjoy this. plus it's short! i love a short album.
  • Een Glish - Best Days: a silly cute album made with various tts engines (including the google translate english tts, who is the primary one used), autotuned or sample-cut to be in key and on rhythm.
  • Slime Girls - No Summer No Cry: this album has been very important to me emotionally for a while now. i always listen to it when summer is over, or when i ride the bus to the beach. i actually own it on vinyl but i just wanted to add it to my music collection on bandcamp.
  • Friends Without Faces - TULPA: a weird and good album. i cant believe i couldve been listening to this for like years but i forgot about it until a few weeks ago.
  • Friends Without Faces - This Is Not Modern Life: an even weirder and gooder album. if i need to sell you on it, just listen to "secret garden". its got like, birdsong breakbeat chopping. i absolutely love it.

albums i didn't buy today but i bought them recently and i think you should give them a try:

  • greenhouse - arc, regn: the absolutely incredible follow up album to _SNDWK/gh. weird and altogether simultaneously organic and yet extremely synthetic electronic music. like finding an old autechre album now covered in moss and lichen and epiphytic plants, rendered much more approachable to non-sickos as its sound waves decay into rich soil
  • breakbeat heartbeat - Better, Lost: extremely chill, a bit melancholy music using a mix of break beats, lsdj, samples, and acoustic guitars
  • deathbrain - fantasy noises & perfect delusions: a really nice album of d&b electronic music, great to put on while you're working on something.

of course, i also [wrote an email] to Paul Songtradr, the CEO of songtradr, and you should too! its a simple way to support bandcamp workers in this vital time.
