This wasn’t ai, they were averaging income over a different period than they should have with the express purpose into harassing people who had received welfare payments at any point into “paying back” thousands of dollars that they didn’t have - an entirely conventional program that doesn’t use statistical models to achieve the widespread devestation.
This was also not a debt servicer, this was enacted by the government welfare office directly under the order of the at the time Right-wing government.
These are just little discrepancies that distract from the fact that our government directly killed thousands of people, so as someone who got a robodebt notice personally, I appreciate that it’s getting picked up overseas so I mainly I just wanted to thank you for sharing.
i think i have a slightly broader definition of AI than yours, but yeah a largely unchecked automated process.
