is there a good video host that choosters recommend that isn't, like, youtube?? i'd like to get my cute little song videos here and i don't know if there's a cleaner alternative than just embedding youtube

psa regarding streamable

streamable is cool and i use it all the time as a temporary video host, however keep in mind: without paying for the pro subscription, your videos expire after 90 days!

that doesn't necessarily mean they will be instantly deleted (apparently it depends on activity/how often it's viewed) but it can be deleted at any point.

so please don't put anything actually important on streamable! i'm in several discord servers where this has become a problem, speedrunning tricks and stuff uploaded to streamable a year+ ago that are no longer available, etc.

vimeo cooooould work on a short-term basis, but the free plan restrictions are kind of odd (only two uploads every month, maximum 25 videos total) which i'd end up filling quickly. i might use it as a temp solution though it might just be better to go with a new yt channel and unlist the videos

Ohnoo! I didn't know about that's all it said on the site was that without an account they'd be deleted after 30 days I didn't even see mention of a paid service If that's the case, what alternative are you using on the Discord server now?

YT as unlisted when I need a permanent host, Streamable still for all sorts of temporary stuff. sadly no good YT alternative (which is understandable I guess, storage gets expensive real quick)

and honestly i still much prefer Streamable over the incredibly slow and painful process YT puts you through to upload a single video, i just don't use it enough to justify the 13 USD/month (or 8/month in a yearly plan?) price tag.

i suppose you could also use google drive or some other cloud storage if it supports embeds?

i'm only planning on using it for a handful of 1-2min videos every once in a blue moon so it's def not worth the cost of upkeep to me, as nice and low-friction as streamable seems to be. unlisted yt on a new channel might be the way to go
