i think its really neat how, like.... people can experience nostalgia for the same thing in completely different ways/contexts. like, some people have nostalgia for super mario RPG because they played it when it came out on the SNES, while i have nostalgia for it from newgrounds animations and ancient let's plays (and attempting to emulate it for myself when i was a kid, only for it to not really work and to get stuck on the fight with the Hammer Bros.)

or similarly for mario 64, a ton of people feel nostalgic for it, again, for playing it when it first released, but for me, my nostalgia for it comes from watching mario 64 blooper videos on youtube when i was a kid (and also from the DS port which i played a ton!)

and thinking of this has me wondering how nostalgia for these games will evolve or change in the future.. of kids finding mario 64 for the first time nowadays through emulation, or NSO, or youtube or something. finding out who captain falcon is from smash bros and looking up f-zero. or someone buying the klonoa remaster for their kid. i wonder how younger people now will think back on these older games, having grown up in a landscape where so many different games of all shapes, sizes, types, etc. exist

i don't really have much of a point in this post, i just kinda wanted to ramble about a thought kicking around in my head. nostalgia's a fun thing to think about
