i started a new job with irregular hours and i haven't watched any wrasslin' in like a month. gonna get extremely stoned and watch Wrestle Princess IV.
short thoughts below the cut, mild spoilers possible.
- Chris Brookes and Baliyan Akki best commentary duo in the business
- shoutout to the guy in the audience with all four colors of Up Up Girls penlight. true hero.
- still sad Kamiyu lost the TPC, tbh
- will never get tired of hearing people call Max "Impaler-chan"
- Haru Kazashiro v Runa Okubo: fuck yes, rookies! it is so incredibly cool to watch these performers develop a personality in real time and how naturally the narrative is able to form from that. great opener.
- TJPW versus GanJo - Arisu Endo/HIMAWARI/Kaya Toribami v Yoshiko Hasegawa/Harukaze/Riara: kind of a get your shit in match but i'm not familiar with GanJo, so it was a fun introduction. HIMAWARI continuing the transition from "comedy wrestler" to "wrestler who is funny;" love her combination of counter wrestling and big strength moves. good showing for Endo, and Toribami always a delight.
- this is when the edibles kicked in
- Juria Nagano v Moka Miyamoto: i love the karate girls. the Yamato Nadeshiko Fighter versus the Black Belt Angel. tradition versus modernity. classic shit. that's how you can have a nice, brisk 6 minute match and still tell a story.
- Aja Kong/Shino Suzuki/Raku v Wakana Uehara/Hyper Misao/Toga: this match is my fuckin' Super Bowl.
- Ryo Mizunami/Yuki Aino v Miu Watanabe/The Genius Girl, The Idol, The Young Legend, The Five Tool Slayer, The Dragon of Kyoto, Yuki Arai: really cooks once it gets going. Miu Watanabe is for real, but we already knew that.
- Shoko Nakajima/Suzume/Pom Harajuku/Antonio Honda v Neo Biishiki-gun (Sakisama/Mei Saint-Michel/Yukio Saint-Laurent/Martha): if Biishiki-gun's gotta end, let it be with Antonio Honda popping himself with the Japanese equivalent of a "deez nuts" joke.
- Nyla Rose v Maki Itoh: wish we saw more of Nyla in AEW. Maki's time in the US has really done her good.
- Princess Tag Championship Match - Toyo Mates (Yuki Kamifuku/Mahiro Kiryu) v Free WiFi (Hikari Noa/Nao Kakuta): Nao Kakuta's brains lookin' smothered, covered, chunked, and peppered after that one
- International Princess Championship/NWA Women's Television Championship Double Title Match - Rika Tatsumi v Max the Impaler: wanted to like this one more than i did
- Princess of Princess Championship Match - Mizuki v Miyu Yamashita: banger. heat from top to bottom.
- solid Teej show as usual! i honestly think it's my favorite promotion going right now.
