i was going to write a whole thing about CM Punk and rage and forgiveness and how despite being straightedge he falls victim to the eternal curse of the addict: to chase the thing that destroys you.

i'll write that retrospective in 7 years when he shows up as a surprise Royal Rumble entrant or reconciles with AEW or actually makes good on his desire to grow the business and put over young guys and starts working the indies. until then, this whole situation is going to be thoroughly picked apart and dissected by people with much more knowledge and access than me.

my silly little vanity tag on here is "it's fun to watch pro wrestling." i don't remember which match it was, but i remember it was one of the ones boring people like to call "indie mudshow bullshit." it was a Blood and Guts or Anarchy in the Arena or another one of those bloody, brutal affairs that AEW likes to do from time to time. the ring was a mess, the wrestlers were a mess, and Jim Ross, the greatest wrestling commentator of all time, just says "it's fun to watch pro wrestling." it was such a simple statement and so seemingly incongruous with what was happening on screen. but he was right. we were all having a blast.

wrestling should be fun. wrestling, on the whole, is fun! all too often we let the worst and most toxic elements take up the most air. even when the action in the ring is focused on people destroying each other with chairs and glass and barbed wire, wrestling is fun. at its best it can make a 70 year old man with 50 years in the business nearly speechless.

so here's a picture of Pom Harajuku meeting Pompompurin. because it's fun to watch pro wrestling.
