i am currently amusing myself by looking through our rather substantial collection of cookbooks (my parents have been accumulating them for the better part of five decades and have generally pretty good taste) and making notes of recipes that a) sound tasty and b) seem pretty reasonably doable. this second one is kind of a big deal because both my mom and i are disabled and so an instruction that says, say, 'stir continuously for five minutes' is more or less impossible for both of us, whereas for most people it's just annoying and tedious.
on the plus side, when you have dozens and dozens of cookbooks there's lots of stuff that sounds delicious and doesn't require prohibitive amounts of stirring or chopping (or require pan frying looking at you paul prudhomme) so uhh i'm only two books in and my list is like 50 items long oops also hi i want jambalaya please send
