turns out it DOES work (so far) on linux using wine!!! (tested on manjaro, wine 7.22) though it didn't work At First for me, cause the window by itself doesn't render anything unless i do a thing
here's how i get it working, for all you Linux Lesbians* out there !!
(edit: update! i figured out a better way!!)
you just gotta hit RightAlt+Enter to get the engine itself to enter into fullscreen mode (F5 didn't fix rendering for some reason, but RightAlt+Enter does)
this puts the game into a weird sorta fullscreen where it changes your screen's resolution, BUT this gets the game to display its graphics!!! you can gaming!!!!!!!!
also the game has to start non-fullscreened and then you fullscreen it, Also i'd recommend you exit fullscreen (RightAlt+Enter again) before quitting or else your screen might be locked to a small resolution (you can go into display settings and re-change the resolution to fix it)
^ it um, i dont think it resets your resolution to normal if you quit, but it should if you exit fullscreen Before you quit, so watch out for that

IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY ON LINUX IN WINDOWED MODE (this time tested in wine 8.0) I LOVE HOW IT RENDERS THE WINDOW IN A RETRO STYLE TOO
(but it crashes if you try to run with a nvidia GPU (crashed on 3060), though it works with the default integrated GPU- most users won't even bump into that problem. i'm pretty sure it's nvidia's fault)
