One of my absolute favorite mushrooms in the Pacific Northwest, the woolly or scaly chanterelle. It is, of course, not a chanterelle at all. Not even in the same order! It causes GI issues for most people who consume it, but apparently some folks can eat it without issue. Most specimens that you'll see in the wild are going to be more yellow than the ones pictured above and they often grow quite large (these are pretty young). I just think they're handsome and super fun to hold in your hands c:
