Draculaura
Cohost's #1 Draculaura Stan

Hi gang, I have not had running water in my house since 6/13. My dad bought this house 35+ years ago and while thankfully he hasn't had to do much maintenance on it, it also means he hasn't done much maintenance on it and things are falling apart left and right. The house is nearly 100 years old and it's really showing its age.

The other day we had a leak in our shower and I thought it was something I could fix on my own. In attempting to fix it I realized it was way beyond my scope, and that that the leak had apparently been going on longer than we thought. When I went down to turn off the water I found out there are pipes leaking in our crawl space and several wet rotted support boards. I went into a panic because this is way beyond something we could afford. My gf's family does home repair, so she gave her brother a call. Thankfully he looked around and said this is something he can fix, and that he will charge us very little for his time. Most of our cost is going to go into buying whatever supplies he needs to do the job.

We are also very lucky to live next door to my uncle who is letting us fill gallons jugs of water at his house so we have water for flushing the toilet, washing dishes, cooking, and such. He is also letting us use his shower and washing machine as needed. I don't know how long this will go on. This isn't the only job my gf's brother has right now, and he has a family to take care of, so I understand paid jobs come first.

My day job is in a grocery store. Unfortunately because a lot of covid financial aid ended this year, it means the store sales are down, and in turn my hours have been cut. Normally I get 32+ hours a week, but on next week's schedule I only have 26. So I am also going to be struggling to have extra money to pay for this.

I don't have a full estimate at this time, but I am starting the goal at $500. I have already paid the guy $120 so he could pay his car insurance + I've spent about $65 on supplies, but I know we will need a lot more. There are several leaking pipes in the crawl space + the rotting boards + almost the whole shower system and wall needs to be replaced. If I happen to get more donations than I need, the extra will probably go between my uncle and my gf's brother to repay them for their kindness.

If you are interested I can also take tarot reading commissions, but I cannot guarantee a turn around time right now. While I have less hours at work, I have to still be running back and forth to the store and I am trying to help with the repairs where I can. Not to mention the mental health strain this has been on us. Besides all this, unfortunately my gf's brother is homophobic. She advised we should take our pride flags down and we have to pretend to be a nice cishet couple and it sucks. This is saving us so much money vs having a plumber we don't know do this, so it's worth it in the end, but ... yeah. Anyways, I totally can do tarot commissions, it just may take a while before I can deliver.

I like using kofi for donations because of the transparency, but if you would prefer to donate another way I also have

any donations or shares are truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope the rest of your day is as lovely as you are.
