went to wash up this morning and I noticed the water was warm but not hot. go downstairs. hot water heater isn't lit. get it lit again and it's blinking 7 times which is supposed to mean a fault with the gas valve (the gas valve on this thing was faulty when we got it, and this is a replacement part on it right now). Head upstairs and the water is warmer now. look up error and find a bunch of reddit threads where no one knows the actual solution but that just sometimes it happens and usually a few minutes after they relight it, it goes back to normal status. go back downstairs and yep. light is on normal status now. i guess for now I am just going to let it go and see if it happens again? i had a fan running downstairs a little close to the water heater so maybe it made too much of a draft. I'm pretty new into the warranty, so I am willing to wait until it is obviously an issue before I go through the stress of calling and getting a repair person out here
