I see people talk about things that started happening during covid that went away when "covid went away", such as remote work and telehealth
but I don't see people talk much about things that went away with covid but never came back?

this is such a petty example, but the reasoning are what have me mad
today I asked a store manager if we were having "Kids night out" this year, which is just a little event where kids can come into the store and do little Halloween activities and get candies. It's something stores owned by our company have done for years and years, but of course we didn't do it during 2020 or 2021, but we got to do it again last year. It's a fun little event and it's cute to get to see all the cool costumes kids have! I assumed since we had it last year, we would have it again this year. But the manager told me we probably won't, and if we do, we will probably be the only store in the district to do it. I asked if it was covid procedures and he told me "No, the company is deciding if it is worth it financially, and also the company is hesitant to do it because we had some costumer complaints last year that it was difficult to shop during that time" (ya know, the whole 4 hours it goes on, and you totally can still stop, you just might need to ask someone to move for a second?)

And I am disappointed, but I guess not surprised. It's just shitty bc I doubt that they would have just suddenly stopped doing this if covid never happened? but covid and costs and staffing just kinda gives companies an excuse to wiggle out of spending just a little money on something that gives back to the community because "Well it doesn't drive a profit" I mean "Covid has changed how we do business and the precautions we must take" (and that's why there isn't paid covid leave or free tests for employees anymore ♥️)
again this is a petty example, and I could list way more important ones, but I am just kinda frustrated about it
