in reply to @melinoe's post:

yeah, the main obstacles i've had are:

  1. ahhh the sheer lack of energy to even do it lol

  2. what little i've found discussed makes it seem like there's plans on what will be done here, they've just... never materialised: https://itch.io/t/1326467/this-site-still-needs-a-coherent-content-warning-system

and god damn i don't want to make a post or comment on discord just to get told "this is a duplicate topic", just the worry about my specific trans-related concerns getting brushed over.

It's making sense to me, like wanting an "own space", and "own works" type of designation, rather than inadvertently having to work your way through material that's written about trans people rather than by trans creators.

Wanting to be able avoid material pivoting around fetishisation makes sense to me too. I'm not sure how itch might manage things. But I don't think it's a bad issue to highlight by any means.

Yeah, itch really really needs content warning/filtering. I love that people can upload any type of thing there with no gatekeeping/morality-policing/etc, but not everyone wants to see it; and even people who want to see it don't always want to see it

it makes a lot of sense and as a stopgap i wish itch would just let us mark games as "not interested" like steam does so at least i can filter out the games i definitely personally don't want to see.

i also think it's a bit weird that if you post an 18+ game on itch you are opted in with no way to ever opt out of seeing all 18+ games on the platform.
