anyone know if there's a way to use youtube-dl or anything similar to only grab a specific part of a video? everything i've seen online requires downloading the entire video and then cutting it with ffmpeg, and that's not realistically doable with what i'm looking for.

there's a 12 hour stream that is currently the only surviving youtube video containing footage of a game that i am afraid to name, for if i do its entirely possible the video will be taken down. i'd like to archive the portion of the stream that contains that game, but i also don't want to download an entire 12 hour video to do that. dunno if there's any way to do that

thanks to everyone in the comments, i've preserved about an hour of Cookie's Bustle footage. this game's existence is currently being entirely removed from the internet, so i thought it'd be good to back up this person's stream of it, as there's almost no other footage of the game that can be easily found right now. there's someone out there who is hellbent on removing all footage & downloads for this game and i've got no idea why.

anyway, for now, you can download it here. if this gets taken down - and i expect it to at some point - i have another download elsewhere that i can link on request.

I think the stack exchange guy was wrong, ffmpeg -ss 1:00 should start downloading at that point, not ignore input to that point. As long as it’s an input parameter instead of an output one.

Macintosh Repository seems to have a 'toast' file of that game, if you're looking for that? But it's not sending me the account activation email to grab the bigsize file

Yeah, I'm surprised that copy is still up. I have my original copy of the Mac rip saved, along with the Windows version, and a few other people in private have it. It'll be safe until this blows over.
