#1: trick or treat
halloween really isn't much of a big deal in australia, it seems. i moved into an apartment last year so obviously i didn't get any this year or last year, but even when i was living at my parents' places way out in the suburbs, i still can't remember the last time we got one. would have had to be before the pandemic for sure. maybe 2018? if we do get any at all, it's usually like, one. i did go trick-or-treating once, when i was like 10 or something. was kinda fun. it just doesn't seem like a thing people really do around here.
#2: backup of a backup
ever heard of the 3-2-1 backup strategy? it's pretty simple: three copies of your data, on two different storage devices, and one offsite copy. for most people, that usually looks like your working copy of things on your computer, a backup regularly taken onto an external hard drive, and then another backup to some cloud storage provider. that way you've got a local copy you can quickly restore from if your computer shits the bed, and a cloud backup you can draw down on for when shit really hits the fan. solid redundancy in most cases, and not impossibly difficult for the average person to implement either.
#3: Jared, 19 (i'm australian it's the 3rd here)

ah, a vine. classic. i never really paid attention to vine in it's heyday, tbh. any vines i'm aware of would have been brought to my attention through like, youtube, probably. funny how vine got killed off, only for tiktok to take off not long after. although with twitter having gone the way it has, vine probably wouldn't have gone very well if they kept it alive, huh. oh well.
just found out about microblogvember. this seems like a cool idea. hopefully i can remember to write something up every day.
